Mostly wordless catching up

Me, the arsonist

Well, I would have posted earlier, but I was busy burning down the neighborhood.
(Can't believe how old these pictures are, and they're not even all my pictures.  Not only have I not posted for so long, I'm suddenly realizing that I haven't gotten anything done for so long.)  Except for burning some things, I guess.
(The neighbor's horses, we were walking by with the stroller, under the canopy of the tree, it kinda felt like we were hiding out with these guys.  Anyway....)
I should post before and after pictures of our lawn.  We planted grass, and as it was slowly (SLOWLY!) growing, weeds were growing like crazy.  So for a long time it was my new hobby to pull weeds.  (Disclaimer:  100% of the people that I have talked to about this told me not to pull the weeds.  So I've already heard that a few times.)
So anyway, I was pulling the weeds, and making huge piles, and one day, I noticed one of my piles looked like it had a hole in it.  Like maybe a snake had slithered in.  This was right during snake season too, so it really freaked me out.
So my new obsession was to burn the piles as soon as I could.  (These pictures are from Lane and Lanae's wedding.  I have more pictures, too, but as usual, I'm in a war with this uploading thing, so I'm going to save them for some other day.)
So anyway, one afternoon, I had unpacked some boxes, and had empty boxes laying around that I really wanted to get rid of too, so I took them all out.  Started a little fire and went back inside.  The day was....kinda windy, approximately 0% humidity (almost like that windy September Sunday last fall....)  Anyway, peeked out the door a few minutes later, before I could even see the fire, I saw our neighbor sliding to a stop in his pickup right next to the fence between his place and ours.  This got me running out the door.  He had a fire extinguisher (a huge one) and he was running over.  I grabbed the hose, ran around the corner of the house...his wife pulled up right behind him about that time (also skidding to a stop), she jumped out of her truck, ran, (this part really impressed me) laid down on the ground and rolled under the fence in about .5 seconds.  So I got around the corner of the house, and there was my fire, exactly as I had left it.   (This was a relief.)  "I thought your well house was on fire."  (Thank you, Gil, for giving us the dignity of calling it a well house instead of an outhouse like most people.)  He sprayed down all around my fire with his extinguisher.  I could hear him yelling into his phone "Don't worry, Scott, we've got it under control."  (Oh dear, strategy numero uno = foiled.  So much for not telling Scott about this incident.)  Anyway, his wife and I stood out there for a long time spraying the hose on the grass around the fire.  It was interesting to me that neither of them tried to put the fire out, they just didn't want it to start the pasture on fire.  So anyway, it was kinda embarrassing.  (And of course there was the conversation with Scott afterwards..... "I was worried about the snakes...")  Speaking of snakes, for the whole time we were standing out there spraying the hose, we had some very interesting conversations.  Mostly about snakes, scorpions, ("yeah, my daughter was stung while she was sleeping, so I decided to check our bed, and I found a scorpion"  this was the neighbor's story.  I have thought of that every single night since then.), and the neighborhood.
Speaking of snakes and scorpions and things, I have recently seen two tarantulas.
I should keep information like that to myself.  Maybe then people would visit us more often.

(Don't worry.  The taratulas were not in the house.)
By the way, this was my favorite wedding ever, I should be talking about it instead of strange critters.
Let me think if I have any other interesting news.  Right now I'm panicking and trying to hurry because both babies are sleeping, and I think they'll wake up soon.
(First time Summer ever got her hair all combed and straightened and so forth.)
For some reason I love this picture of Lexi.

Disclaimers and other conspiracies:
I still have more pictures from the wedding to post.
I decided not to post any house pictures until we don't have piles of unpacked boxes (this might be 10 years from now), and until we have just a few decorations on the walls, and civilized things like that.
We have something extremely weird and very annoying going on with our internet connection.  Whenever I type in an address that ends in .blogspot.com, the computer completely freezes, and to get it to come back to life, I have to not just try to turn it off, but unplug it from the wall.  (I know this isn't a smart thing to do.)  It's a frustrating and baffling situation, so I can't read any blogs, and even when I'm looking up recipes or something, and click on one that someone has posted on a blog, frozen computer, frustration, etc.
Blah, anyway, I will post again soon.  The rest of my pictures.  Have a brilliant weekend!
